One-Time Payment Schedules in AR Workflow

Schedule a single future payment using a saved payment method — without setting up a recurring plan.

When a customer commits to making a single payment on a future date, AR Workflow allows you to schedule that payment using a One-Time Payment schedule. This eliminates the need to create a recurring payment plan with only one installment, while still giving you the ability to securely schedule the payment in advance using a saved payment method.

Schedule Types

When creating a payment schedule for an invoice, you can choose between two Schedule Types:

  • One-Time Payment — Schedule a single future payment for the full amount or an agreed-upon amount, collected on a specific date.

  • Recurring Payment — Set up a series of installments collected on a Daily, Weekly, or Monthly basis until the balance is paid in full.

Schedule Availability

Whether a One-Time Payment schedule is available depends on the installment amount and the total amount due on the invoice. AR Workflow will only present this option when it is a valid configuration for the invoice in question.

Converting Between Schedule Types

Under eligible conditions, a payment schedule can be converted between One-Time Payment and Recurring Payment. This gives your team flexibility if a customer's payment commitment changes after the schedule has already been created.

Important — One Active Schedule Per Invoice

Only one active payment schedule is allowed per invoice at any given time, regardless of whether it is a One-Time or Recurring schedule.

Weekend Payment Dates

AR Workflow does not process payments on weekends. If a scheduled payment date falls on a Saturday or Sunday, it will automatically move to the next business day.

Convenience Fee

If a convenience fee applies to the payment method selected, it will be clearly displayed during schedule setup. Helpful tooltips are available throughout the setup process to clarify how the fee is calculated and applied.

Why Use a One-Time Payment Schedule

A One-Time Payment schedule is ideal for customers who have committed to a single future payment rather than an ongoing installment plan. It allows your team to securely lock in that commitment using a saved payment method, improving the likelihood of successful collection without the overhead of managing a recurring schedule for what is effectively a single transaction.
