Make Edits to a Deleted Customer

Edits can only be made to active customers - but not to worry! The solution is as easy as 1, 2, 3!

Are you trying to make edits to a customer in AR Workflow, but there is no edit pencil icon next to the name? More than likely the customer name also shows that it is (deleted).

Although customers cannot be permanently deleted, when they are made inactive in QuickBooks, they show as being (deleted) to indicate that they are no longer able to be edited.

In order to make edits to a (deleted) customer, they will need to be reactivated in QuickBooks. Once the edits are made, you can deactivate them again, or keep them active if they were marked inactive in error.

  1. Open QuickBooks and navigate to the customer list

  2. Using the gear icon on the right, scroll down and select the box for "include inactive"

  3. Find the customer in the list and open their profile

  4. Select the option to make the customer Active

Open QuickBooks and navigate to the customer list

Using the gear icon on the right, scroll down and select the box for "include inactive"

Find the customer in the list and open their profile

Select the option to make the customer Active

Once the customer is active, you can make any changes you need to the profile. To deactivate the customer again, simply use the drop-down on the customer profile to mark them as inactive.
